Today Kathy Jackson is up before the Royal Commission for cross-examination.
I thought it may be worth reminding people of this.
This will be a muted or watered down version of a cross examination. Much of what the HSU National office wants to cross –examine Kathy on she has temporarily succeeded in have redacted, supressed, or censored from Chris Browns statement and therefore cannot be questioned on these matters.
No other witness has had the privilege of gagging their cross-examiner, and it is also to be noted that Jackson has only made herself available for one day of cross-examination.
Her lawyer claimed that having five days was not enough to absorb Browns statement, which I believe to be a stretch. Last night I wrote how Peter Mylan was given six days to prepare a detailed statement for the Commission on five pages worth of subjects, yet Jacksons lawyer can’t read one over five days.
Apparently Jacksons lawyer claims to have been busy preparing Kathy for cross-examination. I don’t recall meeting many people who had to have vigorous preparation just to tell the truth. This is probably why some have suggested coach may have been a more appropriate word than prepare.
Today we will see how a watered down cross-examination goes and hope that there will be another chance to pursue the truth when the ridiculous censorship of Browns statement is lifted.
Gagging her accusers
The significance of yesterday’s proceedings goes beyond the ex’s disclosures about the money he was given. Jackson has always maintained that what distinguished her apparently self serving expenditure of union funds from Thomson’s depredations was the approval given by her committee of management. Questioning of her acolytes yesterday suggested that they were naive dupes who agreed to all sorts of dubious practices including the provision to her of blank cheques, keys to cash kitties, no questions asked, and total discretion in the spending of Peter Mac moneys. In the end it appears that her spending on her own fancies was no more authorised than the spending on prostitutes.
How can any of us have any shred of faith in the processes of Justice when we see this occurring for the entitled?? Could I treat the Land and Environment Court with such disdain… you know what, I will try it in 2 weeks time- when my hearing is listed. Lets see how it goes…

When asked about whether she sought advice for her actions, she seemed to say, all others were to blame, if they did not tell her, that she was not a lawyer or accountant. Words to that effect.
