Just over three years ago in May 2012 I ventured into the murky depths of the Jacksonville swamp.
Since then we have all seen what an insipid cesspit of lies, deception, arrogance, and utter stupidity it is. Made up of allegedly corrupt union officials, many now living off workers compensation, back-handed payments and slush funds, wild spending, overseas and domestic holidays, intimidation by wannabe union thugs, opportunistic politicians such as a current PM and several of his Ministry, charity shags, intentional distortion of facts by friends in the media, and not to mention an Abbott appointed VP of the Industrial Relations watchdog who’s kids worked for the union in question and who is now the de-facto husband/lawyer/charity shag of the union secretary at the centre of a major criminal investigation.
This week after so many attempts to delay Federal Court proceedings and numerous desperate bids to have them dismissed things took a turn for the surreal.
This week Kathy Jackson, the woman whom many have claimed to be morally bankrupt declared herself financially bankrupt. While some may say that this equates to the best of both worlds, for the members who have had their money taken it must be cold comfort.

Kathy Jackson was to appear in Federal Court this week but apparently seemed to think staying in bed was more important. Jackson is of course the self-proclaimed Health Services Union whistle-blower who in blowing the whistle on her factional opponents has foolishly exposed herself in the process.
Despite her court absence Kathy made yet another bid to have the case against her thrown out so that the union members she used to represent don’t retrieve a cent of the approximately $1.4 Million she is alleged to have misappropriated and absconded off with.
The bankruptcy declaration has caused the court case to be adjourned until Friday when it is hoped that Jackson may grace the court with her presence.
The union is now seeking approximately $2.5 Million through the court from Jackson once legal costs are taken into account.
So where has all the missing millions gone? Is it with the mystery exercise book? Perhaps washed away by a great financial record-destroying flood? Or did it get caught up and shredded with all the documents?

Currently under question is a property deal between Jackson and her de-facto husband, Fair Work Commission’s VP Michael Lawler, someone who I’m sure is Tony Abbott’s proudest appointment so far.
That questionable deal is to transfer Jackson’s multi-million dollar property into Lawler’s name. This would apparently leave Jackson utterly skint.
Lawler himself seems to be turning into a property tycoon with seeks to gain Jackson’s estate and his attempts to get both his and Kathy’s mits on a bigger chunk of David Rofe QC’s estate now that he has been diagnosed with dementia. This while they live in the QC’s property neighbouring theirs, a property that Lawler having gained control of the mentally incapacitated QC’s estate purchased on Rofe’s behalf.
According to Fairfax reports this deal was to
“… recognise the financial and other support provided by Mr Lawler”
I clearly live in a different world to Lawler and Jackson.
The world I live in doesn’t require a financial transaction for me to provide support for the person I love and am in a serious relationship with. I don’t expect cash for compassion, it’s just something I would provide for a partner without question or payment. But hey, perhaps I’m the weird one here?
Michael and Kathy – Big smile for big dollars
We now wait with bated breath to see what eventuates on Friday, and some are already taking bets on whether Kathy will even have the guts to front the court she demanded all her factional opponents face.
However for members the good news is that this civil case is just the foreplay. While for the HSU’s lawyer Mark Irving it may feel like he is having another ride in the infamous barber chair, the real shafting will come with Jackson’s seemingly inevitable criminal prosecution.
Jackson’s antics, outbursts, empty accusations and grand standing have only served to highlight her own questionable behavior. Highlighting that behavior has now seemingly driven her into bankruptcy and brought about a criminal investigation on herself.
In doing so she looks at not only the distinct possibility of having a nice pair of orange overalls picked out for her, but also destroying the already mortally wounded career of her de-facto husband Michael Lawler. Add to that the chance of seeing members of her faction and former friends face criminal investigations, and not least the exciting possibility of seriously damaging the credibility of many members of the current government who piled the praise on her despite knowing the allegations against her.
A final question for Christopher Pyne to consider before Friday’s upcoming fiasco, “Does your parliamentary apology still feel like a good idea with the benefit of hindsight Mr Pyne?”
I’m guessing not.

Brilliantly and accurately summarised and explained, Peter. We can only hope that the few mainstream journalists with some personal integrity will join you in investigating the facts and go on to revisit Thomson’s speech to Parliament in April 2012 and find that everything he said there is now proving to be true, despite the ridicule heaped on him at the time.
“Jackson’s seemingly inevitable criminal prosecution”. Don’t bet on it. Australian Police forces have a habit of only acting when it is in the LNP’s interest to do so.
Don’t forget the almost 8 months (in the past 12) of sick leave that parasite Lawler has had at our expense.
All the while scheming Jacksons’ and his next move to rip off some unsuspecting or terminally ill sap.
Surely his position at Fair Work must be untenable.
Only a corrupt and abysmal government like the one we have now would allow this to continue.
Why isn’t anyone asking Abbott and cronies about all this?
I see comments in MSM are blaming Labor for appointing the commissioner. still all Labor’s fault. Ignore Kathy was there before Thomson, during his time and after.
Sadly, I don’t hold out much hope on the criminal conviction as there are family ties in that camp as well.. Hopefully, the courts see thru these shenanigans for what they are and take her to the cleaners and she the becomes truely BANKRUPT…

More and more, this saga is sounding like an “Underbelly” series! Maybe that’s what needs to happen so everyone can understand all the garbage!
Transferring property just before bunkruptcy is no protection. It can be still siezed by ITSA to settle debts. Please look into this. If it does not happen in kj’s case questions will need answering.
I’ve always believed Jackson saw a time when she would need powerful allies to protect her.
Maybe she thought she could offer up Thomson (and therefore government) to Abbott in return for their ongoing protection and for a while it seemed to be working.
However, as people like Ashby have found, once you’re of no use, you’re expendable.
I don’t expect any immediate blow-back toward the government over this unless Jackson decides to take somebody down with her – and given her public persona, that’s likely.
Whatever happens it will be a glorious thing to behold.

I’ve said all along that this deceitful, lying, manipulative “person” will get away with it, and I see no reason to change that opinion. I believe she still has friends in high places who will not dump her until the bitter end. And, I might add, it sickens me to write that.
My workers comp case was rejected and I have had to bear my own personal treatment costs, forgoing some necessary treatments and endure the hardship of being unable to work.
I was told the FWC would not assist and left to my own devices.
The only avenue for achieving a just resolution is through the court system, which is financially oppressive and beyond my meagre means.
I just have to grin and bear it.
I am not an isolated case. There are many othere with similar tales of woe.
Mr Lawler should be congratulated. Somehow, he has made a system that doesn’t work, for so many people who are relying on it, work. In fact, it works so well for him. He makes it look easy.

Abbott will have problems distancing himself from the de facto. Seems two dads were close friends during Abbott’s childhood. Two family bought up closely together. Are not other members in police forces?
